    With the June 30 bow of telenovela Juramento, Telemundo Studios Mexico launches its first 100% made-in-Mexico production, the first of many, studio president Patricio Wills said. The Mexico City-based studio adds a third hub to Telemundo’s international scheme in addition to operations in Colombia and its HQ in Miami. “We believe that with Mexico, we are closing the circle of what we want to make as our basic foundation of production,” Wills tells Variety. more » » » 
  • Study: 91% of Hispanics Aware of DTV Transition

    The vast majority of broadcast-only Hispanic TV households are aware of the digital-TV transition, up from less than one-third of those households that were aware of the transition last fall. That is according to a new study from the National Association of Broadcasters, which found that 91% of Hispanic households getting their free TV via rooftop or indoor antennas knew about the upcoming DTV switch, compared with 31% in a similar study in September 2007. more » » »

Richard Taub has been named vp Business Developmet of V-me, where he will be charged with leading mergers and acquisitions, distribution, strategic alliances and partnerships for the Spanish-language network. Prior to joining V-me, Taub was head of his own consulting firm, where he assisted LIN Television in its distribution and the $130 million sale of the WAPA Puerto Rico networks. He will report to Carmen DiRienzo, president and CEO.
