ESPN Deportes Prepares Special Broadcast of the 2008 Olympic Games
Starting August 4 ESPN Deportes will begin comprehensive TV and online coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Leading a team of commentators are José Ramón Fernández, David Faitelson and the now retired Mexican athlete Ana Gabriela Guevara. The Beijing coverage will be mostly shown during ESPN Deportes’ signature show SportsCenter, and will be complemented by a dedicated Web site.
American Latino Readies Latino Awards Show
American Latino TV on July 19 will broadcast the 2nd annual American Latino TV Awards, a show recognizing excellence and achievement in the American Latino community in the areas of music, film, sports and fashion. Over 46,000 people logged onto an American Latino Awards dedicated Web site to vote for their candidates, almost doubling last year’s online attendance. The awards show will air nationally in broadcast syndication in over 75 cities, said the company, which this year was acquired by Los Angeles-based LATV for an undisclosed amount.
CaribeVisión to Offer Content Via Mobile Phones
Miami-based CaribeVisión has partnered with Tactical Wireless to develop interactive television through text messaging. The alliance promises to connect viewers with their favorite TV shows via their mobile devices, regardless of the phone company they are subscribed to.

"Spanish-language broadcaster Telemundo, reaching 93% of U.S. Hispanic households, will present 380 hours of Olympic coverage over 19 days, exclusively in Spanish. Telemundo will feature live men's (starting Aug. 7) and women's soccer, basketball, gymnastics, diving, volleyball, as well as track and field, swimming and baseball.
