  • Analyst Warns of Operator/Univision Retransmission-Consent Battle

    Pali Research media analyst Rich Greenfield kept the pressure on Time Warner Cable, issuing a note that warned of an impending retransmission-consent battle with Univision Communications Inc. Greenfield warned that Univision Communications -- the largest Spanish-language broadcaster in the country – could significantly increase TWC’s costs in key markets with large Hispanic populations like Los Angeles, New York, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio, Texas by pushing for high retransmission-consent fees. Since going private last year, Univision has been making noise that it would seek as much as $1 per month per subscriber for retransmission consent. more » » »

  • Anjelica Cohn has been appointed vice president of business affairs at Telemundo, where she will oversee business affairs matters at the network’s studios, stations group, cable channels and international distribution operations. Prior to this appointment, she was svp business affaris at Metro Goldwyn Mayer where she was charged with overseeing U.S. distribution, advertising and new business affairs for MGM’s Spanish-language networks. Cohn will be based in Miami and will report directly to the network’s president Don Browne.

  • Jon C. Dubin has joined ¡Sorpresa!. as vp of advertising sales. He will be based in Los Angeles and report to Mike Weiden, svp of advertising sales. Prior to joining the Juniper Content-owned station, Dubin worked at City Reach Latino & Epic Media Group at Mobile Fleet Media, a mobile out-of-home media company where he was vp of advertising sales & marketing in Los Angeles.
