- Over 5 Million Hispanics Watched Obama’s Acceptance Speech
Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama’s acceptance address drew some 38 million viewers Thursday night, the most ever for convention coverage. Among minorities, there were some 5.3 million Hispanic DNC watchers Thursdays in the 10 p.m. hour, up dramatically from 1.08 million, 1.35 million and 1.16 million on Aug. 25, 26 and 27, respectively. - Telemundo Reorganizes Digital Unit
Telemundo Communications Group Monday announced it will re-group its digital assets—including Yahoo!Telemundo and holamun2.com—under a newly created Digital Media and Emerging Businesses Division which will be led by Peter Blacker. - Nasdaq Issues Delisting Notice to SBS
The financial press is reporting that Miami-based Spanish Broadcasting System has received a written deficiency notice by Nasdaq stating that the company is not in compliance with the minimum bid price rule. The price per share of the company’s stock has closed below $1 for 30 consecutive business days. SBS, which went public at $20 a share in 1991, is the parent company of MegaTV. more » » »

Jesús Salas has been appointed senior director of programming and promotions at Miami-based América TeVe. Salas, a 16-year radio veteran, was most recently senior program director at Sirius XM Radio, where he was responsible for programming, promotions and operations for the Latin channels. He has worked at Spanish Broadcasting Systems and Univision Radio.
Peter Blacker has been promoted to executive vp, digital media and emerging businesses, a newly created division of Telemundo. He will be charged with leveraging Telemundo and mun2’s original programming through branded entertainment, digital and mobile cross-platform solutions. He will report to Telemundo’s COO Jacqueline Hernández.
Iván Pérez has been appointed vp of network advertising sales at GolTV, where he will be charged with managing all aspects of the soccer network’s advertising sales initiatives. Prior to joining the network, Pérez was vp/director of ad sales for Azteca America. Perez launched his TV career as a sales planner at NBC Television Network, and has held executive advertising sales positions with Sí TV, Fox Sports En Español and Galavision. Fluent in Spanish, Perez holds a dual bachelors degree from St. John’s University New York. |
