Speed Readies HD Net
While many networks have taken their position on the track in recent weeks, Speed plans to enter the high-definition race next February during its coverage from Daytona Speedway. Speed in HD plans to come out of the gate with more than 100 hours of NASCAR coverage from the Daytona Speedweeks, which begins Feb. 7 and leads up to the 50th anniversary of the Daytona 500 on Feb. 17. The initial native HD output will include Duel Days, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR RaceDay as part of the largest output of programming the network will deliver from the famed Florida race track. click to read more...

Big Ten Scores WideOpenWest
Big Ten Network reached a carriage deal with WideOpenWest positioning it on the provider’s expanded basic package. Charter Completes Debt Exchange
Charter Communications announced the results of its exchange offer for $413 million of the company’s 5.875% convertible senior notes due 2009 for 6.5% notes due in 2027, adding that about 88% of the notes were tendered for exchange. Charter said that $364 million of the existing convertible notes were validly tendered. Following the consummation of the offer – expected on Oct. 2 -- $49 million of the principal amount of the 2009 convertible notes will remain outstanding. Comedy Gets ‘Kenny Vs. Spenny’

Comedy Central said Friday that it will premiere the raunchy Canadian reality/comedy series Kenny vs. Spenny Nov. 14. The network said it licensed 10 existing episodes of the series from Blueprint Entertainment and Breakthrough Films & Television, and that Trey Parker and Matt Stone – creators of Comedy Central hit series South Park – will help produce 10 additional episodes. Kenny vs. Spenny stars Kenneth Hotz and Spencer Rice. The show “pits childhood friends against each other in ridiculous competitions,” Comedy Central said. “The winner achieves short-term glory and bragging rights, while the loser is forced to perform a humiliating stunt of the winner’s choosing.” Click to read more...
