HUDSON, MASS. -Start-up broadband equipment vendor
Celox Networks

said cable industry veteran
David Fellows

has joined the company's board of directors.

Celox's technology "has the ability to solve a number of scalability challenges facing the cable industry," Fellows said in a press release.

Those challenges include open access, large-scale virtual private networks and work-at-home services, Fellows said.

Fellows is presently a principal at Boston-based Pilot House Ventures LLC, chairs the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers' digital-standards subcommittee and heads Cable Television Laboratories Inc.'s DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) certification board. Fellows stepped down as the interim chief technical officer for Road Runner early last year and had handled top engineering slots at Continental Cablevision Inc. and MediaOne Group Inc. before the latter merged with AT&T Broadband.

Fellows had also served as president of Scientific-Atlanta Inc.'s transmission systems business division, which designs and manufactures fiber-optic and amplifier equipment.
