IFC, Time Warner Team Up on FilmFest

Woodbury, N.Y. -- The Independent Film Channel next month
will help sponsor College Music Journal's "FilmFest '98 -- a
four-year-old, New York-based film festival featuring cutting-edge films.

As part of the festival, IFC affiliate Time Warner Cable of
New York City will sell exclusive festival passes to its subscribers, allowing them to
watch three of the six films. Until now, the film festival was open only to those in the
film industry.

Caroline Bock, vice president of marketing at IFC, said
Time Warner sent direct-mail pieces to more than 200,000 subscribers. IFC is one of 11
channels in Time Warner's "MetroChoice" package, which should be available
to all of its New York neighborhoods by the end of 2000.

IFC also announced a six-record deal with specialty
soundtrack label 1ml Trax to release IFC-branded compact-disc collections of
independent-movie soundtracks starting in January.

As part of the Cablevision Systems Corp. family, Bock said,
IFC is hoping to gain retail distribution for the new CD collection at Nobody Beats the
Wiz.
