It didn't take Rainbow Media Holdings Inc. very long to begin spending the
$825 million in cash it recently received from investor Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc.
On Tuesday, the company's Bravo network announced that it bought the cable
rights to The West Wing from Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution.
The series, which currently runs on NBC, will begin running on Bravo during the
fourth quarter of 2003.
Bravo agreed to pay about $1 million per episode for the series, outbidding
A&E Television Networks and Turner Network Television, one source said.
The West Wing won a record nine Emmy Awards during
its first season last year.
