Ill. City Gives Comcast Third Extension

The City Council in Elgin, Ill., must hope the third time is a charm.

The council granted Comcast Corp. a third extension in negotiations for its cable franchise in the city, the Chicago Tribune
reported.

The MSO’s previous franchise expired in December.

Among the issues holding up talks are Comcast’s conversion of the system from analog to digital and a dispute over how much the operator should pay for dropping local-access programming this year.
