War Delays Adelphia Rebuild

3/24/2003 10:59 AM Eastern

Adelphia Communications Corp.'s Los Angeles system has found its own way to
be sensitive to its subscribers' need for war news.

An Adelphia representative told Los Angeles regulators Friday that the MSO
planned to pull its technicians off its rebuild project all day Saturday and
Sunday.

The action was taken to prevent "planned outages" that would keep anxious
consumers from watching coverage of the Iraq war, regional government-affairs
manager Larry Windsor said.

The crews have gone back to work, but their day has been trimmed by two
hours. Instead of working from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., rebuild crews will work from
8 a.m. to 4 p.m., he added.

The shorter day should ensure that customers can watch news before and after
work without interruption, Windsor said.
