SusCom Signs with BigBand

2/18/2003 7:25 AM Eastern

BigBand Networks Inc. has extended its high-definition-TV reach, signing a
deal with Susquehanna Communications to sell the York, Pa.-based MSO its
broadband-multimedia router.

SusCom is using the routers in its York and Williamsport, Pa., systems to
deliver HDTV signals to consumers. The two systems pass 150,000 homes.

BigBand's HDTV system allows MSOs to control the sourcing of HDTV signals
from satellite or off-air feeds.

The bandwidth-grooming mechanism allows MSOs to direct live HDTV programming
to only those service groups inside a cable system where subscribers are
requesting HDTV programming at any given time.

BigBand said it now has deals with eight of the top 25
MSOs.
