CinemaNow Raises Curtain on SVOD

1/10/2003 7:54 AM Eastern

CinemaNow Inc. is adding to its Internet-protocol
subscription-video-on-demand lineup with a new premium service.

The "CinemaNow Premium Pass" offers more films for download or streaming,
along with a redesigned Web-site interface for easier subscriber sign-up,
according to the Marina Del Rey, Calif.-based company.

To kick off the new SVOD offering, CinemaNow will offer it for an unlimited
seven-day free trial.

After that, those who choose to sign up will pay $9.95 monthly. Most of the
premium pass titles also are available for purchase or via pay-per-view.

"The digital-entertainment and broadband-services industries are evolving
rapidly. Customers now demand access to premier content on the Web and they're
willing to pay for it," CinemaNow CEO Curt Marvis said.

CinemaNow is majority-owned by Lions Gate Entertainment. Its film library
contains about 700 titles, ranging from more recent flicks such as The
Scorpion King
to classic horror film Psycho and family-oriented
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.
