The National Cable Television Cooperative and a network about rural America
have negotiated a master carriage agreement, officials said Monday.
RFD-TV, which debuted in December 2000, carries programming for and about
rural America, including family-oriented fare, rural news, equine training,
agricultural features, cattle and horse auctions and documentaries.
"The addition of the NCTC agreement now positions this rural network to
realistically increase its audience to more than 30 million homes by the end of
2003," RFD-TV president Patrick Gottsch said in a prepared statement.
"NCTC members represent the heartland of America, and we're proud to be
affiliated with these important operators," he added.
The NCTC represents more than 1,000 independent cable operators serving 14
RFD-TV's distributors include DirecTV Inc., EchoStar Communications Corp.'s
Dish Network and Mediacom Communications Corp.
The network's schedule includes fare such as Horses on RFD-TV,
Rural News, Classic Tractors and Farm Bureau
