Courtroom Television Network plans to blow the whistle loudly as it welcomes NYPD Blue to its air.
The network will tout the drama with an 18-hour on-air marathon before the
cop show settles into its regularly scheduled time slot in September. It is also
attempting to draw attention for the series by establishing Guinness World
Records in New York's Times Square area, Court TV officials announced
An 18-hour marathon of episodes from Blue's second season will air on
Labor Day, Sept. 3, from 9 a.m. until 3 a.m. the following morning. Later on
Sept. 4, the show will move into its regular weeknight 8 p.m. time slot.
Court TV is also producing a one-hour documentary chronicling the making of
the series, including interviews with past and present cast and crew. That
special is slated to debut in November.
Additionally, the network is producing a half-hour version of the show that
will be made available to ABC affiliates.
Days before the show's debut on Court TV, the network will attempt to create
a Blue streak of sorts.
Guinness World Records has sanctioned Court TV's endeavors to establish the
world record for 'Most Shows of an Episodic Television Watched Consecutively.'
At the same time, the network will look to set a mark for 'Consecutive Hours of
Network officials indicated that beginning Aug. 31, approximately 50
contestants will come together in a venue at 42nd Street in Manhattan
to begin watching the show.
