RBI Fund Honors Mladenik, Green9/08/2002 8:00 PM Eastern
Like so many other companies, Reed Business Information U.S., which publishes Multichannel News, was touched first hand by the terrorist tragedies last Sept. 11.
Close friends who often traveled together, Reed Business employees Jeff Mladenik and Andrew Curry Green were passengers on American Airlines flight 11, flying from Boston to Los Angeles that fateful morning, when it was commandeered by terrorists who crashed it into the north tower of the World Trade Center.
In tribute to Mladenik, who was serving as CEO of eLogic Corp.; and Green, eLogic's director of business development; Reed Business (then Cahners Business Information) parent Reed Elsevier has established a new annual scholarship fund. Each year, the Andrew Curry Green/Jeff Mladenik Memorial Scholarship program will award $25,000 to one exceptional student — the child of a Reed Elsevier employee — toward four-year undergraduate studies at an accredited college or university.
Mladenik was appointed interim CEO of eLogic Corp., an application service provider for Web-based content management and delivery systems, in July 2001. He also continued in his role as vice president of e-development for the Cahners Manufacturing and Electronics Division.
As vice president, Mladenik developed and facilitated plans and new business development strategies for Manufacturing.net, the portal for electronic original equipment professionals. He also coordinated new media development across 30 publications within Cahners Electronics Group.
Mladenik, who also was an associate pastor at Christ Church in Oak Brook, Ill., is survived by his wife, Sue and their four children.
Green was elevated to director of business development at eLogic after Cahners bought the company in June 2000. He played a major role in developing many of eLogic's key accounts, pursuing and closing deals with clients like NewsEdge and Red Herring.
Prior to his promotion, Green served as director of product development for Cahners, was involved in the online strategies for all electronics publications, and managed a team of product managers responsible for the execution of 40 separate Web initiatives.
Green is survived by his wife, Shannon.
