CableConnects to Hoof It to Austin

Next year’s CableConnects show, traditionally held in San Antonio, will bolt its traditional home in favor of a meeting in Austin, the state capital of Texas.

Amanda Batson, president and chief operating officer of the Texas Cable & Telecommunications Association, said members are interested in combining the trade group’s annual lobbying day in the capital with the convention. The TCTA will announce details, such as the meeting site, in April.

There is still strong interest in the regional meeting, with this year’s scheduled Feb. 25-27 at its 40-year home in the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center in San Antonio.

Batson said this year’s convention should attract more than 1,000 attendees, comparable with past years. The 200 booth spaces are nearly filled, with 184 rented. That is ahead of last year, when 170 booths had been rented by this date.

Time Warner Cable chairman and CEO Glenn Britt will keynote the meeting.
