YES Hires ABC Unit as National Ad Rep

1/09/2002 8:02 AM Eastern

Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network announced Wednesday that it has
retained ABC New Media Sales as its exclusive sales representative for national
and regional advertisers.

A division of ABC National Television Sales, ABC New Media Sales, over the
course of the three-year pact, will direct a national sales force and tap into
its client and agency relationships in driving sales for the fledgling regional
sports network.

This representation will complement the efforts by YES' local sales
staffers.

YES, which has yet to sign any carriage deals, is scheduled to launch in
March 2002 and will cover some 130 of the Major League Baseball club's
regular-season games.

Elsewhere, YES officially unveiled its television team for the 2002
season.

Long-time New York Yankees radio broadcaster Michael Kay will do play-by-play
for 100 games, joining Jim Kaat and the previously announced Suzyn Waldman in
that capacity.

Veteran analyst Ken Singleton will provide analysis for 100 games, while
longtime Yankees player and broadcaster Bobby Murcer will also work in that
mode.

Waldman, Murcer and recently retired Yankees right fielder Paul O'Neill will
be the featured analysts for various pregame and postgame shows, joining host
Fred Hickman.
