Lifted by a trio of airings of The Matrix,
Turner Network Television topped basic cable's primetime ratings last week.

The theatrical helped TNT
average a 2.1 household rating from Dec. 3 to Dec. 9.

It edged Lifetime Television, which garnered a 2.0 over that span, according
to a Turner Entertainment Research analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.

ABC Family - boosted by a strong showing from the original film Three Days
- was third with a 1.7, followed by TBS Superstation, ESPN and Nickelodeon,
all of which finished with a 1.6.

Rounding out the top 10: USA, Discovery Channel and Cartoon Network knotted
at a 1.5; and TNN: The National Network and Fox News Channel, tied with a 1.3.
Cable News Network, FNC's news competitor, was 12th with a 1.2 household
average.

Nickelodeon, with a 1.4 average, held a 0.2-point advantage over Lifetime in
the total-day race, while Cartoon was third with a 1.1. Fellow Turner networks,
TNT and TBS, completed the top five in the 24-hour race as both notched a
1.0.

That pair also set the paces in terms of adult demos. TNT and TBS ranked
first and second among the 18-to-34 set, the 18-to-49 group and 25-to-54 crowd.

TNT's presentations of The Matrix on Dec. 8, Dec. 9 and Dec. 7, which

ninth (3.1), respectively.

ESPN's coverage of the
Dec. 9 NFL game in which the Denver Broncos stomped the
Seattle Seahawks was first, garnering a 6.7.

Discovery's premiere of
Walking with Prehistoric Beasts, on Dec. 9 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. was second, with a 4.7 household
rating, making the computer-animated special the third-highest rated show in
that network's history.

TNN's presentation of the World Wrestling Federation's Raw Zone on
Dec. 3 from 10-11:08 p.m. was third with a 4.4, while the prior hour's
Raw
