President Donald Trump says that he will allow the JFK assassination document release scheduled for next week (Oct. 26), but there was a caveat. That came in a tweet Saturday, which left open the possibility something could still happen to block at least part of the release.

More than 5 million viewers tuned into TBS last night to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Chicago Cubs to win baseball's National League Championship Series, according to Nielsen.

TBS' game five NLCS coverage -- in which the Dodgers defeated the Cubs 11-1 to secure a trip to the World Series -- generated 5.2 million viewers, up 84% over game five of the 2016 Toronto Blue Jays-Cleveland Indians American League Championship series, according to TBS.

Hispanic Leaders Support Univision in Verizon Spat

Several leaders in the Hispanic Community have urged Verizon Communications to continue to provide broadcaster Univision to its subscribers while it negotiates a retransmission deal, adding that the channel is one of the Latino community’s few sources of Spanish-language information regarding recent natural disasters in Mexico and Puerto Rico.

O'Rielly: Media Dereg Moves Not Motivated by Sinclair-Tribune Merger

Republican FCC commissioner Michael O'Rielly suggested Friday (Oct. 20) that the Sinclair-Tribune merger doesn't deserve the blame or the credit for the potential -- and long-overdue, he added -- media ownership deregulation that could help Sinclair keep more of Tribune's stations.

FCC chair Ajit Pai has been accused of trying to put a thumb on the scale for Sinclair Broadcast Group, a charge he denies.

Cable-Tec Expo 2017 Draws 8,800

SCTE•ISBE announced Friday that this week's Cable-Tec Expo in Denver drew 8,800 registered attendees, down slightly from the 9,100 that the event drew in 2014, the last time Expo was held in the Mile High City.

Microsoft Buys Six-Second Spots in ‘The Walking Dead’ Episodes

Microsoft, already a sponsor of AMC’s The Walking Dead, has bought the first two six-second ads in the top-rated zombie drama.

Microsoft will also be the presenting sponsor of live streams of the red carpet at a Walking Dead premiere event Sunday (Oct. 22) at The Great Theater in Los Angeles.

FCC Issues EEO Audit Letters To MVPDS

The FCC has issued a BOLO for EEO audit letters, which it says select MVPDs should be receiving anytime now.

The Media Bureau says it mailed the third batch of EEO audit letters Oct. 19 to a random sample of providers, including systems owned by Comcast, Charter, Cable One Cox and Mediacom.

The FCC annually checks on the EEO compliance of about 5% of all broadcasters and MVPDs. Broadcasters got their letters in February and June.

Reponses must be back to the FCC by Dec. 2.
