The World’s Toughest Point-to-Point Desert Race Now In Its 50th Year 1/10/2018 5:00 PM

AUSTIN, TX– Join El Rey Network and experience the world’s most iconic, oldest, prestigious, and longest continually held desert race with the “Baja Desert Championship: Baja 1000.” 

Now in its 50th year, the legendary SCORE Baja 1000 has attracted the world’s best racers and teams to participate in what has been described as the “Top Motorsports Event” in the world.   This year’s race was held over a 1,134.40-mile rugged race course down Mexico’s majestic Baja California peninsula, starting in Ensenada, Baja California Norte and finishing in La Paz, Baja California Sur.  The two-hour special is hosted by racer Rodrigo Ampudia Jr. along with professional BMX rider Mike Escamilla and car artist Cherry Martini.  Baja Desert Championship: Baja 1000 premiering on Sunday, January 14th at 5PM/ET includes commentary by Sung Kang (Fast and the Furious franchise) who is also an Executive Producer.

Baja Desert Championship: Baja 1000 is built around the 50th BFGoodrich Tires SCORE Baja 1000 race, but includes the stories of racers and teams in each division. These are people from all walks of life and backgrounds who modify or build their own vehicles to join the race, including motorcycles, stock Volkswagen, production vehicles, buggies, trucks, and custom fabricated race vehicles. The modified cars, extreme conditions, terrain and speed lead to captivating drama and suspense.
