Salvadoran Soccer Set for Centroamérica TV

Salvadorans in the U.S. can now cheer on their favorite futbol teams from back home by tuning to Hemisphere Media Group pay TV network Centroamérica TV.

In an arrangement announced in early August, the network will serve as the exclusive carrier of the week’s top matches from Primera Division de Fútbol de El Salvador’s “Campeonato de Apertura 2014,” picking up broadcasts produced by Telecorporación Salvadoreña. Centroamérica TV will also have the rights to semi-final and final games, which begin in December.

Coverage on Centroamérica TV kicked off Aug. 9 with a primetime Aguila-Isidro Metapan match.

El Salvador’s first-division soccer league is comprised of 10 teams, which also include FAS and Alianza.

“We are thrilled to offer U.S. Hispanic soccer fans access to the best Salvadorian professional soccer league matches, including the playoffs and finals,” Hemisphere president Alan J. Sokol said. “We are committed to delivering the best sports and entertainment programming to the Central Americans living in the U.S.”

Centroamérica TV has 3.4 million U.S subscribers and features live news, talk shows, entertainment, cultural and sports programming from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
