Vanguard Awards: Steve Miron

Steve Miron has served as CEO of Advance/Newhouse Communications and Bright House Networks since May 2008. During his time as CEO, Bright House has become the country’s sixth-largest MSO, serving 2.5 million customers in Florida, Alabama, Indiana, Michigan and California. He joined Bright House as president in 2002.

Under Miron’s leadership, Bright House’s customer-centric reputation has been recognized with 12 J.D. Power awards. His philosophy of putting the customer first is at the core of his business decisions, embraced by employees and reflected in the company’s culture. Bright House has earned accolades for a variety of activities, such as its commitment to corporate social responsibility, employee relations and consumer-focused marketing.

Miron, recipient this year of a Vanguard Award for Distinguished Leadership, was an ardent apprentice of financial-market dynamics from a young age and learned the cable television business by working in a variety of operational areas. He began his formal career in 1989 and has held positions with Metro-Vision, Vision Cable, New-Channels and Time Warner Cable, where he was vice president and general manager of the company’s Central and Northern New York State operations.

Miron has served on the Discovery Communications board of directors since September 2008 and the boards of C-SPAN, the NCTA, and CableLabs. Previously, he served for several years on the board and executive committee for CTAM and the boards of the Emma L. Bowen Foundation and the CTAM Educational Foundation. He was also vice chair of the CablePAC Committee. In addition to his service in the cable telecommunications industry, he serves on the Crouse Health Foundation board of trustees and the board of directors for the Jewish Community Foundation of Central New York.

“I realize any recognition of me is recognition of the great team we have at Bright House,” Miron said. “That is what is most special about this award.

“It is particularly special to be recognized with [Time Warner Cable chairman and CEO] Rob Marcus, because Bright House Networks would not be what it is today were it not for Rob and our friends at Time Warner Cable. Rob has been there for our company and our family when we needed him. I am excited for the future, for the people who work at Bright House and for our customers.”

Miron is a graduate of American University. He is married with two sons.
