Cablevision's Latest Anti-FiOS Offer: Free iPod

The Battle for the NY Burbs rages on.

Verizon is teeing up new bundles and 12-month intro pricing deals offering a FiOS triple-play for as little as $85/month to New York-area consumers who order online (see Verizon Sets New FiOS Bundles, Hikes Early Termination Fee).

Cablevision has parried by offering a free 8GB iPod Touch to new double- or triple-play customers, a promo it’s running until Jan. 31, along with 12-month pricing for Internet and phone services of $29.95/month each.

To get the iPod, customers must keep both services for at least 30 days; the device will then ship in 4-6 weeks. The offer isn’t available to existing Optimum triple-play or triple-play upgrade customers.

It’s the latest in a series of special pricing and promos from Cablevision and Verizon. Last summer, for example, Cablevision ran a limited-time offer to new double- and triple-play customers of a $200 American Express gift card (see Cablevision Fights FiOS With Moola), while Verizon has introduced subscriber-acquisition deals on more or less a monthly basis (see Verizon To Let 1,000 FiOS Super Bowl Parties Bloom and Verizon Referral Program Offers Up To $600 In ‘Reward Cards’).
