Snow Goes From Moto to Video-to-Go Startup Morega

Longtime cable guy Buddy Snow has made the jump from Motorola Mobility to the startup world.

Snow earlier this year -- prior to Google's official takeover of Motorola -- quietly joined Morega Systems, which designs and develops video-mobility solutions for pay TV service providers worldwide, as president and CEO.

Morega, you may recall, developed the "Nomad" for DirecTV. The $149 device, which the satellite operator launched a year ago, lets subscribers side-load recorded content from their DirecTV DVR to smartphones, laptops and PCs.

Snow most recently was Motorola's senior director of convergence devices product management, and had held other marketing and product management roles at the company. He's also worked at Terayon Communications (now part of Motorola), Harmonic, DIVA Systems and General Instrument (also a Motorola pickup). Snow also spent eight years at Apple.

Philip Poulidis, previously president and CEO of Morega, is now chief revenue officer of second-screen TV app Peel. Mountain View, Calif.-based Peel announced his hiring in August.

Morega is based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, although Snow's LinkedIn profile indicates he is located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The startup's investors include Celtic House Venture Partners, GrowthWorks and the Ontario Emerging Technologies Fund.
