2008 CABLE SHOW: DIY To ‘Deconstruct’ Home Improvement Show

DIY Network Monday announced Deconstruction, its latest home-improvement series, will debut Wednesday, July 2.

Hosted by DIY Stud Finder finalist Matt Blashaw, Deconstruction hopes to provide a fresh spin on the home-improvement genre by taking apart (literally) home-building products and materials to let viewers see how these everyday products are actually made, how they work and whether they're worth using.

During each of the 13 episodes, Blashaw conducts fun-filled and innovative experiments to answer questions like: How do you pressure-treat wood? Is home insulation really fire retardant? And is granite really worth the expense? Plus, field trips to research labs and testing facilities give viewers a backstage pass into the high-tech world of home improvement.

In the series premiere, Blashaw helps viewers learn what types of windows are strongest and which ones cut down electricity bills and why.

Deconstruction debuts on Wednesday, July 2 at 9 p.m. ET and airs every Wednesday night during DIY’s Nailed at 9 primetime programming block.
