3 Rivers Telephone Cooperative said Friday that it has made “a significant equity investment” in Auroras Entertainment LLC.
Fairfield, Mont.-based 3 Rivers is a provider of local telephone, long distance, fiber to the home, digital subscriber line and other communications services, and Kalispell, Mont.-based Auroras delivers Internet-protocol-TV services to communications companies nationwide.
3 Rivers said that as a result of its investment, it is poised to be among the first telephone companies in the country to offer advanced MPEG-4 (Moving Picture Expert Group) video-entertainment services to its customers
“We believe Auroras has a great IPTV solution for rural telcos,” 3 Rivers general manager Darren Moser said in a prepared statement. “Their recent demonstration in Montana of DVB-S2 [Digital Video Broadcast] satellite compression and MPEG-4 integration convinced us that this is a talented and innovative team that really understands our business needs.”
