Music industry trade magazine Billboard has named pop music legend Madonna as its 2016 Woman of The Year, the organization said Friday.
The seven-time Grammy-winning singer will receive the award during the Dec. 9 11th annual Women in Music event, a taped version of which will air on Lifetime Dec. 12.
Previous Woman of The Year honorees include Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Pink, Katy Perry and last year’s winner Lady Gaga.
Madonna is an extraordinary artist, emblematic of the strength, courage and resilience that Lifetime celebrates, and we are thrilled to offer our platform to recognize her in every way she deserves,” said Liz Gateley, EVP and Head of Programing for Lifetime in a statement. “We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Billboard and bring this powerful event directly to our viewers.”
