ESPN said Tuesday that viewership for Monday night’s 2004 Century 21 Home Run Derby was up 34% versus the 2003 event.

This year’s version from Minute Maid Park in Houston drew 5.041 million households, versus 3.755 million for last year’s contest from U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.

The corresponding 5.7 rating was up 33% versus last year’s 4.3, the network added.

Miguel Tejada of Major League Baseball’s Baltimore Orioles was the record-setting winner, edging out Lance Berkman of the host city’s Astros.
