ABC Family Details Summer Fare

ABC Family isn’t subscribing to the notion of “summer vacation” this year.

The network Monday detailed a slate of summer programming including two new reality series, two scripted dramas and two original movies.

ABC Family’s two as-yet-untitled reality series will feature an in-depth off-court look at the lives of professional tennis players Venus and Serena Williams; and the trials of four college students when their parents move into the dorm, attend their classes and hang out with their friends.

Scripted drama Wildfire (working title) -- which will debut with a two-hour original movie, followed by 11 one-hour episodes -- centers on the struggles of a teen-age girl to turn her life around.

Beautiful People (working title), the other scripted drama, will star Daphne Zuniga, Torrey DeVitto, Sarah Foret, Ricky Mabe and Jordan Madley.

Original movie Campus Confidential(working title) -- about an ambitious young reporter and her desire to bring equality to her school -- begins production in April in New Orleans for an August premiere.

And the network described original moviePizza My Heartas a “modern day Romeo and Juliet set in the town of Verona, N.J.”

“Our summer-programming lineup is reflective of today's families and focuses on real stories, real families, real heart," ABC Family president Paul Lee said in a prepared statement.

We just finished [the first quarter] with double-digit increases and had our best total-day deliveries in key demos for January, February and March,” he added. “We look forward to maintaining this momentum through the summer.”
