ABC Family Most Watched Network Among Young Adults For Week

ABC Family's Harry Potter movie marathon helped the network finished as the most watched basic cable network among adults 18-34 last week.

ABC Family, also aided by strong performances from original series as Pretty Little Liars, Switched At Birth and Secret Life of The American Teenager, averaged 492,000 viewers within the demo for the week of July 4 to July 10, upsetting last week's demo winner USA Network, according to a Turner Research analysis of Nielsen data.

USA remained the most watchers basic cable network among all viewers for the sixth straight week this summer, averaging 2.8 million viewers, ahead of Disney Channel's 2.6 million viewers.

TNT finished third with 2.4 million viewers, followed by History (1.8 million) and ABC Family (1.6 million). Fox News (1.6 million); A&E (1.4 million); Syfy and HLN (tied with 1.3 million) and HGTV (1.1 million) rounded out the top 10, according to Nielsen.

Nickelodeon, which had the most watched show of the week with its July 9 Fairly Odd Parents: Grow Up Timmy movie, took top honors among all basic cable networks on a 24-hour basis, according to Nielsen.

HBO's True Blood clawed its way to second place among all cable shows, drawing 5 million viewers for its July 10 episode, according to Nielsen. HLN's coverage of the Casey Anthony murder trial represented four of the top 10 most watched shows for the week, according to Nielsen.
