ABC Family Pulls Plug On  '10 Things'

ABC Family will not renew its freshman comedy series 10 Things I Hate About You for a sophomore season, the network said Friday.
The series, a takeoff of the Julia Stiles-Heath Ledger theatrical movie, will finish its initial season this month before going off the air --10 months after it premiered as the network's most-watched comedy series debut in ABC Family history.
The series' July 7 premiere averaged 1.6 million viewers, a network record for a comedy series debut. The program also became ABC Family's most-watched debut among adults 18 to 34 (509,000), women 18 to 34 (396,000), adults 18 to 49 (734,000) and women 18 to 49 (574,000).
But the show's ratings have struggled since. The second half of the series' first season is averaging 983,000 viewers thus far in season two, down precipitously from the 1.3 million viewers the show averaged during the first half of its freshman campaign.
