Beginning Aug. 13, fans of ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager will be able to watch the show online with other fans and can chat about the show in real time.
The functionality is provided through a partnership with Lycos Cinema, which allows fans to schedule online viewing parties by going to www.abcfamily.com or http://secretlife.lycos.com. There, they access Lyco's proprietary Watch & Interact platform to schedule private screening rooms or meet other fans to watch the current episode. Screening room hosts have the ability to pause, rewind and fast-forward the content.
“By teaming with Lycos…we're able to continue to offer our communities of fans this unique, interactive viewing experience,” said Vickie Collier, vice president, digital media, ABC Family, in a prepared statement. “Viewers of ABC Family are a very social and tech savvy group, and these online viewing parties are a great new way for them to enjoy our programming and share that experience with friends, even when they are not in the same room.”
Lycos Cinema offers both paid and free ad supported viewing and utilizes Adobe's latest Flash Server 3 Technology to deliver the highest video quality and advanced security features for programming partners.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which stars Molly Ringwald, has been a ratings sensation for the network, regularly attracting more than 3 million viewers each week.
