ABC News has named Stacia Philips Deshishku deputy Washington Bureau Chief.

The announcement was made in a note from ABC News President James Goldston to staffers Monday (Oct. 6).

Most recently she was director of news planning for CNN. Before that she was director of coverage for CNN's national assignment desk and senior White House supervising producer.

She began her news career in D.C. in 1990 as a production secretary for CBS's 60 Minutes.

"As Deputy Bureau Chief, Stacia will play an important role in helping drive our journalism and storytelling," said Goldston. "Her story sense and extensive experience with breaking news coverage are an important addition to our D.C. team, and will help take our Washington reporting to even greater heights."
