ABC Sports and ESPN announced Wednesday that their football agreement with the Atlantic Coast Conference has been extended through 2010.
The original, existing seven-year deal kicked off in 1998.
The new ACC Football Championship Game, which begins in 2005, is covered under the new agreement, as are additional Thursday-night games and comprehensive coverage through various ESPN entities, including ESPN Pay-Per-View, ESPN.com (msn.espn.go.com), ESPN Classic, ESPN HD and ESPN Deportes.
“The addition of Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College elevates the ACC to the very top echelon of collegiate football power conferences,” ABC Sports senior vice president of programming Loren Matthews said in a prepared statement.
ESPN executive VP of programming and production Mark Shapiro added, “Fans can expect blanket coverage of the conference through the substantial collection of ESPN platforms.”
