ACA Supports Martin's Family Views

The American Cable Association, the small-cable-operator lobby group, said
Friday that it strongly supports Federal Communications Commission member Kevin
Martin's call for more family-friendly programming tiers and à la carte choices
on cable and direct-broadcast satellite systems.

"While many cable systems would like to offer these choices, the vast control
of content held by major media conglomerates limits operators' ability to
respond to customer desires," ACA president Matt Polka said in a prepared
statement.

"Commissioner Martin's challenge should also be extended to the mega-merged
broadcasters and programmers that continue to raise programming rates with
impunity and continue to abuse cable operators and subscribers through
retransmission consent, tying, bundling and forced tiered placement," he
added.
