ACC Bolsters Advisory Board

The Association of Cable Communicators, the professional organization for cable industry communications and public affairs executives, has rejuvenated and expanded its advisory board, adding four heavy-hitters to its already impressive list of members - co-chairman Disney Media Networks and president ESPN Inc. and ABC Sports George Bodenheimer; HDNet chairman Mark Cuban; NBC Universal Cable Entertainment president Bonnie Hammer; and A&E Television Networks CEO Abbe Raven.
The four new advisory members join Time Warner Cable chairman and CEO Glenn Britt; Cox Communications president Patrick Esser; C-SPAN Networks chairman and CEO Brian Lamb; National Cable & Telecommunications Association CEO Kyle McSlarrow; Rainbow Media Holdings CEO Josh Sapan; and Insight Communications vice chairman and CEO Michael Willner.
"We are extremely fortunate to have these preeminent industry leaders contributing their insights and perspectives to ACC's mission to raise the level of communications work being conducted across the cable industry," said ACC President Jim Maiella, vice president of media relations, cable and communications, Cablevision Systems. "We enthusiastically welcome our new Advisory Board members and thank those continuing with us for their willingness to help develop programs and initiatives that benefit our approximately 500 members, member companies and the entire industry."
Maiella said the changes are targeted to inject new energy into the advisory capacity and allow ACC members to tap into the knowledge and expertise of the board.
"We're going to move beyond ‘names on the letterhead or Web site' mode and actually work with our Advisory Board members to guide and inform our programs and efforts to raise the level of communications work happening across the cable industry, and to ensure that their rare insights and perspectives flow through to our 500 members," Maiella said.
The ACC is producing a panel on social media at the upcoming Cable Show in Los Angeles in May and will hold the next installment of its annual Communications Institute - produced in concert with the Syracuse University S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications - June 13-16 at the University's Lubin House facility in New York City.
