Pennsylvania Gov. Mark Schweiker announced Friday that Adelphia Business
Solutions and the consortium of 13 Pennsylvania companies it leads have
successfully completed the Keystone Communications network.
As part of its agreement with the commonwealth, ABS and a consortium of 13
Pennsylvania companies built a network of 5,000 fiber-optic miles for use by the
Commonwealth and State System of Higher Education (SSHE) to facilitate
transmission of state-of-the-art voice, video, Internet and data services.
The consortium -- which includes such partners as Electronic Data Systems
Corp., Comcast Corp., Marconi Communications and Qwest Communications
International Inc. -- will continue to provide services to the commonwealth
under the agreement through 2006.
