Level 3 Communications Inc. said it won a multiyear deal to supply
2.5-gigabit wavelengths to Adelphia Communications Corp. and its
competitive-local-exchange-carrier unit, Adelphia Business Solutions. Financial
terms were not disclosed.
Adelphia said it will use Level 3's '(3) Global Wavelength' service to
enhance its commercial and residential high-speed services in North America and
to tap into intercity wavelength routes connecting Chicago; Denver; Los Angeles;
Philadelphia; Phoenix; San Francisco; San Jose, Calif.; and Seattle.
The routes will also give Adelphia a 'cost-effective' way to interconnect its
existing cable and CLEC markets in the Western half of the United States, the
