Coudersport, Pa. -- Adelphia Communications Corp. said its
fiscal-second-quarter revenue rose 9 percent and cash flow rose 10 percent on a pro forma
basis, and the MSO's digital-subscriber count rose to 23,290.
Pro forma revenue rose to $172.9 million from $158.6
million, while operating cash flow rose to $93.4 million from $85 million. The
new-services-revenue line -- for data, digital TV, paging and long-distance resale -- rose
to $1.9 million from $575,000 in the same period a year ago.
Adelphia -- which also reported that its basic-subscriber
count rose 2.1 percent year-over-year through internal growth -- also managed to trim its
debt-to-cash-flow level by selling equity and closing on a joint venture with
Tele-Communications Inc. in the quarter. Its leverage ratio fell from 8.24-to-1 to
Adelphia's "Power Link" high-speed-data service
ended the quarter with 7,566 customers, up from 1,127 the year before.
