Adelphia Communications Corp. has upped the maximum speeds for its high-speed-data service.
The MSO’s basic-service tier now boasts speeds of 256 kilobits per second both upstream and downstream, up from its previous high speed of 128 kbps each way.
Adelphia’s preferred-service tier now offers top speeds of 4 megabits per second downstream and 384 kbps upstream, up from 3 mbps and 256 kbps, respectively. And its premier-service tier has been upped to 6 mbps downstream and 768 kbps upstream from 4 mbps and 512 kbps, respectively.
The operator said its high-speed-data subscribers will also receive additional e-mail-storage space.
Adelphia added that the higher speeds are not yet available in Puerto Rico; Friday Harbor, Wash.; Burney and Willits, Calif.; Telluride and Crested Butte, Colo.; and Libby, Mt.
