Adler 'Emerges' As Discovery Programming Leader

Discovery Emerging Networks has appointed Deborah Adler Myers senior vice president, programming.

In this newly created position, Myers, who had been serving as senior vice president, daytime and fringe programming for TLC, will spearhead the development, production and programming units for Science Channel, Investigation Discovery and Military Channel.

Charged with commissioning and creating brand-defining series and specials for all three networks, Myers will also lead the effort to attract top scientists, experts and personalities to appear on air.

“Debbie is an incredible leader and a talented production and development executive who will help me build these channels into category-owning brands that inspire passionate and loyal audiences,” said Clark Bunting, president of Discovery Emerging Networks, to whom Adler will report, in a statement.  “With each of these networks now reaching approximately 50 million homes, these brands are beachfront real estate and we look forward to fully unlocking their potential."

Adler, who headed her own production, Aha! Entertainment, before joining Discovery in June 2005, has created some 500 hours of programming for the content company since then, including being involved with the launch of TLC franchise Little People, Big World.

Other credits include: LA Ink, Say Yes to the Dress, Big Medicine, Take Home Chef and Take Home Handyman, as well as continuing series What Not to Wear, Miami Ink and A Baby Story.
