A&E Bows Big Biography Slate

A&E Network will present a panoply of premieres for its signature show
during May.

Continuing a tradition it inaugurated last year, A&E will air 26 all-new
Biography installments from May 1 through 31 at 8 p.m. All of the
episodes -- running Monday through Friday and on three Saturdays -- will be
hosted by anchor Harry Smith.

'For our second annual all-premiere month, we have once again pulled out all
the stops, and this year we are airing 26 brand-new programs produced specially
for us,' A&E vice president of documentary series and Biography
executive producer CarolAnn Dolan said in a prepared statement.

The fresh set of shows begins May 1 with actor Matthew Broderick. There are
also takes on former first lady Barbara Bush, author Oscar Wilde, tennis bad-boy
John McEnroe and music impresario Sean Combs. Jazzman Dizzy Gillepsie is the
subject of a two-hour special.
