A&E, USA Today Go Polling

A&E Network and USA Today announced Tuesday that they are joining
forces for five viewer polls indirectly tied to the network's year-end
Biography of the Year special.

From Wednesday Oct. 16 through Nov. 15, viewers will be asked to cast their
votes online in the 'Biography and USA Today Viewer Poll' in a
variety of categories, such as 'world leader of the year,' 'athlete of the
year,' 'movie entertainer of the year' and 'TV entertainer of the year.'

A&E and Gannett Co. Inc.'s daily national weekly newspaper have developed
lists of 20 nominees in each category. The viewers' top five will then be
featured in three- to five-minute co-branded vignettes to air on A&E Dec. 2
through 6.

In addition, A&E and The Biography Channel will run on-air promotional
spots, print ads in USA Today and co-branded banners on A&E
Television Networks' Web sites, A&E vice president of marketing Mike Mohamad

But the programmer said in a prepared statement that the votes in that poll
will not affect its selections for the 'the 10 most significant individuals of
the year' and the No. 1 person 'who had the greatest impact on our lives.' Those
choices will air on its two-hour Biography of the Year special Dec. 9 at
8 p.m.
