Agassi Boosts USA’s Open Coverage

More than 2.3 million tennis fans tuned into USA Network’s Sept. 7 U.S. Open coverage, which included the classic quarterfinal matchup between Andre Agassi and James Blake.

Agassi’s five-set win over Blake helped the network to average a 2.0 household rating for the night’s coverage, an increase of 34% over the 1.5 generated for the comparable night last year, USA officials said.

For its first 10 days of Open coverage through Sept. 7, USA averaged a 1.1 household rating, a 26% gain over 2004’s 0.87 mark. The network garnered a daytime average of 0.59, up 13% from a 0.52 over the same Grand Slam span last year.
