Travelers passing through the airport in Eugene, Ore., now have two news channels to choose from.
Since late 2001, the airport had always shown Fox News Channel: Local Fox affiliate KLSR provided four televisions in the two departure areas on the condition that only Fox programming could be aired, AP reported.
But retired anthropology professor Jim Patterson objected. "My complaint is that I'm a taxpayer, and I'm a captive audience," he told AP. "I find Fox too partisan. I'm not an extremist. I'm fairly middle-of-the-road in my politics. I don't think CNN [Cable News Network] is totally unbiased, but I really can't handle some of the invective you get on Fox."
So airport manager Bob Noble contacted KLSR general manager Mark Metzger, and Metzger agreed to fund additional equipment to pick up CNN, AP reported.
