Comedy Central is using Akamai Technologies Inc.’s “Akamai Media Delivery” to support its recently launched “MotherLoad” broadband-channel initiative.
The network said MotherLoad will launch with five distinct channels and will offer more than 950 video clips.
The channel will present new original series -- with titles including I Love the Thirties, Odd Todd and Meet the Creeps -- as well as three-minute clips from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report and exclusive content from Comedy shows including TV Funhouse, Strangers with Candy and Viva Variety.
Akamai said its Media Delivery enables the secure delivery and download of these clips, giving subscribers high-quality, reliable streams every time. The vendor added that visitors to the site can customize their programming lineup, add new shows to their play lists and send favorite clips or shows to friends via e-mail.
