Akimbo Systems launched a new channel featuring public-service announcements and other nonprofit programming.
The Internet-TV provider said its “Akimbo Cares” service was designed to help nonprofit organizations gain exposure and gather donations.
The company added that its “‘click-to-donate’ technology gives nonprofit organizations a completely original and innovative method to reach the public who, for the first time, can donate to the charity of their choice directly through their TVs.”
All proceeds go directly to each nonprofit organization, and Akimbo subscribers can both make donations and have their donations billed directly through the Akimbo service.
Initial Akimbo Cares charitable partners include the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, BizWorld Foundation and The National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
