Alterna'TV, Comcast Media Center Strike VOD Deal

Alterna'TV, a distributor of Latin American television in the United States, has selected the Comcast Media Center (CMC) to kick off a VOD offering comprised of shows from six Spanish-language television networks.

Financial terms weren’t disclosed, but the deal covers VOD distribution of Canal 22 Internacional; Canal Once TV Mexico; Ecuavisa Internacional from Ecuador; CBTV canal Michoacan from the state of Michoacan, Mexico; Telemicro Internacional from the Dominican Republic; and LAS (Latin American Sports) from Puerto Rico.

CMC’s VOD footprint encompasses cable systems across multiple MSOs serving more than 56 million VOD –enabled households in the U.S. and Canada.

“We are very pleased to work with CMC on introducing television programming from these leading sources of Latin American television to digital cable households served by our cable operator affiliates in the U.S.,” said Clemente Cabello, executive director of Alterna'TV, in a statement.

“Our relationship with Alterna'TV will serve as a very effective and efficient method for these top providers of Latin America television to expand their presence in the North American television market,” added Richard Buchanan, VP and GM of Comcast Media Center.

CMC distributes more than 12,000 hours of video on demand TV programming from more than 200 sources of video entertainment per month.
