Amazon Renews ‘Transparent’ for Fifth Season

Amazon will bring back its Emmy Award-winning series Transparent for a fifth season, the video streaming service announced Thursday.

The Jill Soloway-produced series, which stars Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), Judith Light (Dallas), Gaby Hoffmann (Girls), Jay Duplass (Togetherness)and Amy Landecker (Louie) will begin production of its fifth season in early 2018 and return to Amazon later in the year, said officials.

The fourth season of Transparent debuts Sept. 22. 

Andrea Sperling will continue as executive producer for Transparent along with Soloway, said Amazon.

“Over the past few seasons the Pfeffermans have gone across the world, back in time and made many, many trips to the deli,” said Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy, Drama and VR for Amazon Studios in a statement. “We’re so excited to see what magic Jill and the incredible team bring to this always groundbreaking series in season five.”
