The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will develop exclusive original content for Amazon’s Prime Video service as part of an agreement between the producer and the OTT service announced Friday.
Kirkman, along with his Skybound Entertainment company -- which has a first-long deal with Amazon – will create television projects to debut exclusively on Prime Video. Skybound Entertainment’s co-presidents of film and television, Bryan and Sean Furst, will oversee the Amazon project slate in conjunction with Kirkman and Skybound co-founder David Alpert, said Amazon.
Along with The Walking Dead, Kirkman's demonic-exorcism comic Outcast currently airs on Cinemax. He is also producing Invincible, a theatrical film based on his long-running comic book.
“Robert is a gifted storyteller who shares our passion for elevated genre storytelling that pushes boundaries,” said Sharon Tal Yguado, Head of Event Series for Amazon Studios in a statement. “Robert and the team at Skybound are some of the most innovative and fearless creatives in the business. Together, we plan to explore immersive worlds and bold ideas for Prime Video.”
